ON THE ISSUES

ECONOMY

As the world’s largest economy, the United States must work proactively to create and adjust monetary policy that ensures sustainability and maximizes opportunity for economic growth. A strong and fiscally responsible economy is an essential component for Americans to experience the reality of financial stability and prosperity.

Threats of inflation, unemployment, high interest rates, supply chain disruptions, and market instability cause financial uncertainty and directly affect the quality of life for Americans.

Through long-term planning, strategic investments, and diligent management of our nation’s reserves, these threats can be appropriately addressed and mitigated.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create economic policy that bolsters the Federal Reserve System in its efforts to combat economic threats, protect American consumers in the marketplace, and work to make sure that capital is accessible and affordable to all Americans as they progress through the various stages of life. I will work to reduce our national debt, eliminate wasteful spending, and upgrade our credit rating with the U.S. credit rating agencies.

IMMIGRATION

Immigration into the United States must be a legal and orderly process. Unprotected borders and unenforced border policies threaten the safety of Americans and the sovereignty of our nation. Enforcement of immigration policies should be robust, but carried out in a manner that is consistent and respects the dignity of all individuals.

Undocumented immigrants who are subject to removal from the United States for violating immigration laws should be treated with civility, respecting their human rights and exercising great care not to violate international law. Immigration court hearings and appellate reviews should be transparent and conducted in a timely manner, with thoughtful consideration given to the imposed burden placed on the undocumented immigrant’s United States citizen children and/or spouse.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and create a new agency through federal legislation to handle immigration law enforcement and removal operations based on probable cause and due process, with a steadfast commitment to humanity. I will work to create a path to citizenship that is clearly defined, timely, and provides immigrants real opportunities to contribute to the United States in exchange for the rights and protections of citizenship.

AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE

Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.  Every American should have access to affordable healthcare regardless of income, medical history, and geographic location.

Human bodies are unique and require specific treatments and care in order to sustain life and improve overall health. Genetics, environmental pollution, and external stressors are uncontrollable factors affecting the health of every American. The high costs of premiums, co-pays, medical procedures, prescriptions, and emergency room visits are expenses that most Americans are finding more difficult to afford.

No American should be turned away by a healthcare provider, or penalized with high debt for seeking medical treatment due to natural changes to their health.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create healthcare policy that improves and strengthens the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by expanding provider networks, lowering deductibles, and increasing subsidies. I will work to increase access to affordable healthcare for all Americans and to enhance the quality of healthcare in America. I will also work to establish a framework for Medicare for All.

MEDICAID & MEDICARE

Medicaid provides health coverage for the nation’s most vulnerable populations: children, low-income adults, pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities. Administered by the state government, Medicaid is jointly funded by the federal and state governments.

Medicare provides health coverage for individuals who are 65 years of age and older, and for some individuals with specific disabilities. Administered by the federal government, Medicare is funded by the federal government through payroll taxes and income taxes on Social Security benefits.

Recent cuts to Medicaid and changes to the Affordable Care Act will leave an estimated 10 million Americans without health coverage, and some with only partial coverage. These cuts will cause negative and cascading effects on rural hospitals, nursing homes, and medical care providers.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create policy that will restore critical federal funding for Medicaid and amend policy to prevent scheduled cuts to Medicare. I will work to encourage Medicaid expansion in states and boost Medicare coverages.

SOCIAL SECURITY

With more Americans participating in the workforce longer, some up to the full retirement age of 67, Social Security has become more important than ever. Americans spend years working hard to provide for themselves, their families, and opportunities for other Americans through the small businesses they create. Americans must be able to count on support from the retirement fund they have faithfully paid into for so many years. As a result of government inaction, Social Security is estimated to become insolvent in the year 2032.

Nearly 70 million Americans depend on Social Security retirement benefits to maintain their way of life and make ends meet as they age. These benefits often cover rent, food, and utilities. For many beneficiaries over the age of 65, Social Security accounts for approximately 50% or more of their income.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create policy that prevents the insolvency of Social Security by funding the combined trusts that administer retirement benefits, and by identifying additional revenue sources to supplement Social Security reserves.

WOMEN'S RIGHTS

Women are to be treated with respect and dignity, and their particular needs should be met with seriousness and diligence. Women are pivotal to America, and our country would not be successful without their countless contributions.

After decades of fighting for women’s suffrage, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), that is making its way through Congress, will make it more difficult for married women to vote.

Women complete the same jobs and tasks as men in the workplace, yet continue to be overlooked and underpaid. And as a result of Roe v. Wade's reversal, women have lost their lives because doctors were fearful of legal repercussions instead of making life-saving medical decisions in consultation with, and in the best interest of, the mother.

As U.S. Representative, I will support women's rights by pushing for the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, fighting for equal pay, increasing access to affordable birth control to prevent unintended pregnancies, and codifying Roe v. Wade into law in order to save the life of the mother and to grant women autonomy over their bodies.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

For most Americans, rent or mortgage is the single largest monthly expense. Increasing rents and a lowering supply of affordable housing has left many rental households cost burdened, meaning 30% or more of their income goes towards housing costs. As a result, the ability to keep up with the monthly costs of groceries, utilities, and transportation, among other necessities, has become increasingly difficult.

The American Dream of home ownership is becoming less and less of a reality for many Americans. High interest rates, home prices, insurance premiums, and a limited supply of homes are part of the issue. Home ownership promotes stability and provides the opportunity to build wealth. It guarantees a dedicated place for American families to create memories and enjoy the freedoms of owning a real piece of America.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create housing policy that increases the supply of affordable housing through new construction and acquisition of existing quality housing units. I will also work to increase rental assistance for renter households and work to make homeownership and retention accessible and attainable for all Americans.

EDUCATION

America’s education system is grossly underfunded. Children are the future of America and should have access to a quality education, whether attending public, private, or home school, along with the resources needed to be successful in the classroom. Teachers must be paid well enough to support themselves and deserve manageable class sizes so they can reasonably focus on each student. Millions of Americans are saddled with student loan debt that is preventing them from owning a home or a business, and realizing opportunities that would improve their lives.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create education policy that increases starting pay for teachers to $65,000 a year and intentionally reduces classroom sizes so teachers can focus on educating their students effectively.

I will also work to restore and increase funding for the U.S. Department of Education, rehire personnel laid off as a result of DOGE cuts, and support policy to forgive student loans.

JOBS

Employment allows Americans an opportunity to perform a service for the benefit of others, earn a living wage, and receive subsidized health care from an employer. While the cost of living in America continues to increase, the federal minimum wage remains at an underwhelming $7.25 an hour. The high costs of rent, groceries, and utilities have vastly outpaced the minimum wage.

Manufacturing is a crucial component of the American labor market, and more American companies should be incentivized to manufacture products in the United States. Labor unions should be respected for the critical work their members perform to keep our country running, and the cost of education for trade jobs should be subsidized in order to accelerate Americans into skilled jobs.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create labor policy that increases the federal minimum wage to $25.00 an hour. I will also work to create a select committee that identifies how American workers will be affected by artificial intelligence and create a path to keep Americans employed throughout the adaptation of AI by up-skilling workers for next-generation jobs.

FOOD SECURITY

Food is essential to life and provides the energy necessary for the body to function properly. Without nourishment, the body can experience undernutrition, which can lead to disease and ultimately starvation.

The rising cost of food in America and the lack of access to healthy foods are leading to a deterioration of health. Americans should not have to choose between putting food on the table for their families or paying the rent and utilities. Food insecurity negatively impacts children’s growth and affects performance in the classroom. Food must be affordable and accessible to every American, regardless of income.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create policy that will lower the cost of groceries, expand eligibility for food assistance, and restore federal funding that subsidizes food banks around the country.

I will also work to reinstate the publication of the Department of Agriculture’s House Food Security Report, which monitors food insecurity and provides data for agencies in efforts to tackle hunger in America.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Safety and security are vital for Americans to feel comfortable in the communities in which they live, and throughout the country as they travel. Law and order must be preserved and maintained as the defining element of preventing crime and violence in our society.

Neighborhoods, schools, businesses, churches, and public spaces should be safe. No American should fear for their safety while interacting with others in their communities or while moving about our great nation.

Police departments around the country should be appropriately funded so that they can adequately protect and serve the people of their communities.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create public safety policy that prioritizes federal funding for recruitment, counterterrorism operations, and the acquisition of necessary safety equipment for state and municipal police departments to keep Americans safe. I will also work to find ways to establish trust between law enforcement officers and citizens within their jurisdictions.

NATIONAL DEFENSE

The readiness and lethality of America’s Armed Forces are paramount in protecting the freedoms we enjoy today. Threats posed by China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran put our citizens, critical infrastructure, and democracy at risk. At a moment’s notice, our service members must be prepared to deter and respond to attacks on our homeland, embassies, and affiliated military bases around the world.

By harnessing complex technologies and an increased use of artificial intelligence, America will be in a position to counter external threats and protect our sovereignty. Through investments in cyber warfare, space dominance, and the diversification of conventional weapons, America can be rightly fit to combat the threats of the 21st century.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create defense policy that not only procures the most effective defensive weapons, but modernizes military training and equipment in order to ensure the success of our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and Guardians on an ever-changing battlefield.

FOREIGN POLICY

For many years, the United States held a strong foreign policy position centered on mutual respect, diplomacy, and strategic military partnerships. Cooperation between countries on trade and economic policy allowed America to showcase the benefits of democracy while providing desperately-needed humanitarian aid to many countries and causes.

America’s long-standing commitment to neutrality in international conflicts must be maintained, and diplomacy should be encouraged at every step possible. The work of ending the US-Iran War must be prioritized, and preventive measures taken to deter Russian incursions into NATO territories while fighting in Ukraine. Careful diligence should also be taken to prevent escalation between China and Taiwan, while standing ready to defend Taiwan in the event of a military conflict.

Valiant efforts should be made to advocate for the human rights of Palestinians in Gaza by granting increased access to humanitarian aid to ensure their survival, and supporting the millions of people who have been forcibly displaced.

As U.S. Representative, I will work in a bipartisan way to create foreign policy that restores funding, personnel, and initiatives for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). I will work to find solutions to bring an end to the US-Iran, Russia-Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas War. I will also work to promote positive relationships with other countries in support of our national interests and values.
