Congressional Candidate David Boyd Statement on Women's Rights, Reproductive Care, and Roe v. Wade

February 26, 2026  |  Press Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Congressional Candidate David Boyd issued the following statement on Women's Rights, Reproductive Care, and Roe v. Wade

"As a husband and the father of two daughters, I understand that women’s rights are human rights. Women are to be treated with respect and dignity, and their particular needs should be met with seriousness and diligence.

"Women are pivotal to America’s success. They are our doctors, attorneys, researchers, and elected leaders. They might be mothers who support their husbands and raise children, preparing them for adulthood. They may be educators, Olympians, and service members in our Armed Forces. America would not be successful without the countless contributions of women.

"After decades of fighting for Women’s Suffrage, the right to vote was secured through the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution. That right is being tampered with today in the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), which is making its way through Congress. Make no mistake, passage of this legislation will make it more difficult for married women to vote.

"For years, women have completed the same jobs and tasks as men in the workplace, yet continue to be overlooked and underpaid. Efforts to suppress the wages of women solely based on their sex are discriminatory on their face and have no place in modern society. Women’s contributions to the workforce are to be valued fairly and compensated appropriately.

"A woman’s right to choose was revoked by the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade. For nearly 50 years, women were federally guaranteed access to safe abortions. As a result of Roe v. Wade’s reversal, women across America have suffered mentally, physically, and financially. In some cases, women have lost their lives because doctors were fearful of legal repercussions instead of making life-saving medical decisions in consultation with, and in the best interest of, the mother.

"If elected, I will support women’s rights by pushing for the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, fighting for equal pay, increasing access to affordable birth control to prevent unintended pregnancies, and codifying Roe v. Wade into law in order to save the life of the mother and to grant women autonomy over their bodies."
